Hibiscus in Flordia

While vacating in Southwest Florida I can not help but to take photos of all the beautiful flowers. Lexington Floral is always filled with flowers. Being from Minnesota it is fascinating to see tropical flowers growing in the wild during the middle of winter! Hibiscus is a common flower in southwest Florida.

Hibiscus is a flowering plant part of the mallow family. The flowers are large and trumpet-shaped with five or more petals. Hibiscus grows in many colors including: white, pink, red, orange, purple and yellow. There are several hundred species of hibiscus. One species, known as Kenar is used in paper-making. Another species, roselle, is used as a vegetable.
